Research shows that there are more obese young people today than there were ever before. It also shows that as people age, the more stagnant they become. Regular exercise is great for the health of your mind and body, and regular physical activity in children, adolescents, and young adults helps encourage a lifetime of health and fitness. Conversely, obese youth tend to become obese adults. To help combat this issue we are offering a student special of two weeks for $20! An important aspect of exercise is to choose something you enjoy doing so you will continue, and here at Urban Vybe, we have numerous classes to choose from!


When research studies compare the health of inactive youth to those who are physically active, they show that physically active youth benefit from:

  • Stronger muscles
  • Lower body fat
  • Stronger bones
  • A reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • Better cardio-respiratory fitness

According to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, youth who participate in one hour or more each day of moderate to intense activity can enjoy these and other health benefits. Activities should include both aerobic exercises and bone-strengthening exercises.

Regular exercise can combat chronic diseases including heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and even some cancers. Risk factors for these diseases can begin to develop early in life, that’s why beginning an active lifestyle in youth is important.
